Seabourn Ovation is the newest ship in Seabourn’s fleet with sister ship Seabourn Encore, launched in 2016. She holds 34% more guests than the older Seabourn ships Odyssey, Sojourn and Quest. She features an additional deck and larger public areas. Ovation is an all suite vessel and every suite has a private veranda.
Ovation’s christening ceremony was on 11th May 2018, in the port of Valletta, Malta. Her godmother is Elaine Paige (an English singer and actress). Elaine both christened Ovation and sang to passengers and VIP guests in a live performance, complete with full orchestra on the Pool Deck. Sir Tim Rice was also present. The naming ceremony ended with a spectacular fireworks show along Valletta’s historic City walls and harbour.
Hospitality design icon Adam D. Tihany put his talents to very good use when he designed both public areas, restaurants and suites on Ovation. One of these areas, Seabourn Square is multi functional, housing a superb speciality coffee bar, serving snacks as well as delicate pastries, biscuits, sandwiches. Adjacent is the Library, computer area, reading/relaxing areas, Guest Relations, Shore Excursion Desk, Future Cruise Consultant and boutique duty free shops. Seabourn Square is a real hub and the perfect place to meet with friends to discuss your day.
A restaurant not to be missed is The Grill by Thomas Keller, a Michelin starred chef. Reservations are a must and only one reservation is permitted per voyage. The grill serves updated versions of iconic dishes served in a classic American restaurant in the 50’s and 60’s.
New to the Seabourn fleet is the dining option of Earth & Ocean at the Patio. Each evening, chefs create an imaginative array of fresh inventive dishes, served under the stars. This dining option will be rolled out fleetwide in Spring 2019.
Another new lunch or dinner experience can be found at Sushi, where chefs create exquisite Japanese fare. This restaurant is available only on Ovation and Encore at present.
Ovation will tour Asia, Arabia, India, Africa, Northern Europe and the Mediterranean during 2019 and 2020.
